Panama – January 2009

Winter 2009

The trip to Panama began at the beginning of the new year when 15 GLCM students and Professor Carlos Arboleda traveled from Chicago to Panama City on January 3rd, 2009. The group spent the next twelve days traveling to different places throughout Panama in a fifteen passenger van. Over this time, they observed the expansion efforts on the Panama Canal, a museum project designed by Frank Gehry, a major port expansion project and numerous high-rise construction projects in Panama. In addition to the site observations, the GLCM cohort spent time at the University of Panama, Regency Real Estate Developers and the United States Embassy to further understand factors that impact the construction process in Panama. The group also enjoyed the Panamanian culture and landscape through a cultural dinner show, zipline adventure, and visits to rural areas and beaches in Panama.
