Admission Requirements

Academic Eligibility

A UIUC undergraduate senior is required to have a minimum cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0* to be certified (by the GLCM faculty, CEE Department, and the Graduate College) as eligible to receive an advanced degree. In addition to the cumulative GPA requirement, the applicant is also required to have a minimum of 3.0 in three different core CEE courses, all Construction related courses, and the most recent 60 hours of completed coursework.

There is no requirement for the GRE exam for students that qualify for the Simple Entry application.

*GPA is based on a system where A=4, B=3, etc.

Resume and Practical Experience

Applicants to the GLCM program are also required to submit their current resume highlighting both industry and leadership experience. Special emphasis is given to individuals with construction industry experience.

Interview

The process of interview starts with the applicant demonstrating interest to the GLCM program faculty. If the applicant talks to the faculty about sending an application for the program, this formal interview could be waved. Otherwise, if the applicant has not had the chance to meet any of the GLCM faculty, there would be a formal interview process.

Letters of Recommendation

Two letters of recommendation are required as a part of the application. One (1) should be from a construction industry supervisor who the applicant has worked with before as an intern or a full time employee and one (1) letter should be from UIUC faculty.
